SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) is pleased to once again host a tent at the 2025 Illinois State Fair, sharing with fairgoers a variety of engaging and informational offerings. The tent is located behind the Emmerson Building and across from the Lincoln Stage. From food and medical assistance to behavioral health, youth programs, and more, IDHS is here to help fairgoers access the tools they need to lead healthy, safe, and enriched lives. The IDHS tent aims to provide an inclusive and educational experience.

During the Illinois State Fair in Springfield, August 7 to 17, visitors can stop by the IDHS tent to explore a wide range of services and programs that support individuals and families across Illinois. These include resources for food and medical assistance, rehabilitation services, support for people with disabilities, youth development and violence prevention programs, behavioral health – including mental health and substance use recovery – services, and problem gambling support. Fairgoers can also learn about exciting career opportunities with IDHS, test their knowledge with fun trivia, join in on interactive games, and take a spin on the prize wheel for a chance to win great giveaways.

“The Illinois State Fair is an incredible opportunity for IDHS to connect directly with communities across the state,” said Dulce M. Quintero, IDHS Secretary. “Our presence at the fair reflects our mission to respond to the needs of all people in Illinois, so they can lead healthy, safe, and enriched lives. We are here to ensure every fairgoer feels welcomed and supported as they learn more about the resources and services available to them.”

The IDHS tent will highlight the agency’s divisions and offices, including:

  • Divisions of Behavioral Health & Recovery, Developmental Disabilities, Early Childhood, Family and Community Services, and Rehabilitation Services
  • Office of Firearm Violence Prevention
  • Office to Prevent and End Homelessness
  • Serve Illinois
  • Business Enterprise Program

About Illinois Department of Human Services

The Department of Human Services is one of Illinois' largest agencies, with more than 13,000 employees. Illinois created IDHS in 1997, to provide our state's residents with streamlined access to integrated services, especially those who are striving to move from welfare to work and economic independence, and others who face multiple challenges to self-sufficiency. IDHS is proud of its diversity, efficiency, and the services that the agency and its community partners provide to Illinois citizens.
